Elie lighthouse

The south coast of Fife has some gems, and the Elie coastline might top the lot. A regular visit during uni days, which was often some much needed fresh air after a night out followed by a chippy up the road in Anstruther. Elie has great walks all year round, but the low winter sun warms up the coastal town and the view south towards the old lighthouse never fails to disappoint. This photo was taken on the way to the ship inn for a drink and a well deserved pub lunch. Two Guinness please!

Rhum from Sanna Bay

Sanna Bay, right at the end of the Ardnamurchan peninsula, is one of the most westerly points on mainland Britain. It’s a long old road to get there, but it’s a place like no other with white sandy beaches, pale blue water and views out to both the inner and outer Hebrides. Sunsets and stargazing here are second to none. Pictured here, in the early evening summer light, is the view north west where the mountainous landscape of Rhum creates a dynamic contrast to the vast Atlantic.
